Mountain Kilimanjaro Routes

Program 9 Days _ KILIMANJARO - 7 DAYS MACHAME ROUTE
Descriptions
The Machame route is also the most popular route on Kilimanjaro and also known as the “Whiskey” route. Machame’s draw is in its scenic beauty. However, the trail is considered difficult, steep and challenging, particularly due to its shorter itinerary. Therefore, this route is better suited for more adventurous hikers or those with some high altitude, hiking or backpacking experience. Descent is made via the Mweka route.
The seven-day Machame variation is the ideal schedule for this route. On the 7-day Machame route, the trek from Barranco to Barafu is broken up into two days, allowing for a short day just prior to the summit attempt.
This is important because summit day begins very early, around midnight, so climbers are sleep deprived going into the toughest day on the mountain. By having a short day beforehand, climbers can be better rested.

Program 7 Days _ KILIMANJARO - 5 DAYS MARANGU ROUTE
Descriptions

The Marangu route is one of the most popular trail in Kilimanjaro. The moderate slope makes it less difficult to climb. Also known as the Coca-cola route and considered to be the easiest route of all, this has proved wrong as we have encountered a high failure rate on this route. This is due to that perception which leads to poor preparation and untimely attempt. Despite being fairly easier the final part of the summit is hard. Marangu is the only route that offers hut accommodation with beds and mattresses. Soft drinks, mineral water, chocolate bar & beer can be purchased at the camps but trash-in trash-out is closely observed.
Marangu route 6 days itinerary is advisable though you can still hike for 5 days and miss the acclimatization day at Horombo which may sometimes be the reason for not making it to the top. Short Tanzania safari or beach holidays to Zanzibar can be combined with your Kilimanjaro hiking upon request.

Program 10 Days _ KILIMANJARO - 8 DAYS LEMOSHO ROUTE
Descriptions

This Kilimanjaro 8 Days Lemosho Route hiking trip, is a very special itinerary designed for those wishing to make the ascent to the summit in the daylight hours as well as with sunrise. You will pass by the Kibo crater rim, and trek to the top of the inner Reusch crater and cross the Shira Plateau. It takes us through magnificent scenery with views of the Great Rift Valley, Mt Meru, and Longido. Some wildlife can be seen. The route is more scenic.    Because this route can be done over a longer period of time for acclimatization, it has a higher success rate to the summit.

Program 8 Days _ KILIMANJARO - 6 DAYS MACHAME ROUTE
Descriptions

The Machame route, also known as the Whisky Route is one of the most scenic and recommended routes on Kilimanjaro. The Machame route is recommended by us as a 7 day tour. This includes an additional acclimatization day, which significantly increases the success to reach the summit. For experienced and very fit mountain hikers, the 6 day tour is also suitable. The fourth day of the shortened tour walks directly from the Barranco Camp to the Barafu Camp, as the intermediate stage over the Karanga Camp is omitted. For those who only have six days to climb Kilimanjaro, the Machame route is the best choice because of its acclimatization profile. Compared to other six day routes, the Machame route exposes the climber to higher elevations quicker (day three) which kick-starts the body’s adaptation to altitude. However, this route requires that a person be in good shape to be able to tackle the challenging elevation gains and losses.

Program 8 Days _ KILIMANJARO - 6 DAYS MARANGU ROUTE
Descriptions

Kilimanjaro trekking Marangu route 6 days itinerary is what we recommend as it allows one day of acclimatization at Horombo on the 3rd day. Named Cocacola route & considered to be the easiest rout of all, this has proved wrong as we have encountered a high failure rate on this route. This is due to that perception which leads to poor preparation and untimely attempt. Despite of being fairly easier the final part to the summit is hard. Marangu is the only route offers hut accommodation with beds & mattress. Soft drinks, mineral water, chocolate bar & beer can be purchased at the camps but trash-in trash-out is closely observed.    Marangu route 6 days itinerary is advisable though you can still hike for 5 days and miss the acclimatization day at Horombo which may sometime be the reason of not making it to the top. Short Tanzania safari or beach holidays to Zanzibar can be combined with your Kilimanjaro hiking upon request.

Program 9 Days _ KILIMANJARO - 7 DAYS LEMOSHO ROUTE
Descriptions

The Lemosho Route is a very scenic hiking route, starting on the western slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro before merging with the Machame Route halfway through Shira Camp and then follows the same route through the southern circuit and descending at Mweka Gate. The seven-day Lemosho route variation is preferred over the six-day option because it breaks up day two into two days, providing better acclimatization and a more gradual ascent. We recommend a minimum of 7 days to attempt this route but 8 days is preferable for better acclimatization and summit success. Ideally, however, we’d recommend extending your climb by another day to improve your acclimatization to the high altitude, making the 8-day Lemosho Route a more manageable alternative with an even higher summit success chance.
